Police responding to reports of a man leaping and cavorting between cars in a Colorado supermarket parking lot got a detailed description of the suspect. Too detailed.

Boulder Police Sgt. Fred Gerhardt said witnesses reported the man was dressed as a leprechaun and was pretending to shoot at people with his fingers.

Other witnesses told police they thought the strange little man had been making obscene gestures, instead. Officer Gerhardt said witnesses likely called police because the man was simply "acting very bizarre, even for around here."

Officers did not find anyone matching the description of the leprechaun at the scene.

Gerhardt said this is the first time Boulder police have received a complaint about a leprechaun- instead of the "other" kind of little green men. Which happens more often than you'd think. Maybe it's all a product of a "Rocky Mountain High" different from the one John Denver used to sing about.
