In Memoriam: Onofrio D'Angelo
Co-Founder of Alcamo Marble
Works, Inc. Is Remembered

Alcamo Marble Works, Inc. regrets to announce the recent passing of co-founder Onofrio D'Angelo. At the age of 76 Onofrio D'Angelo, lost his battle with cancer. He fought an 11 year courageous war with cancer. On June 14th, 2010 Onofrio D'Angelo died at home, in Brooklyn, New York.

Born in Alcamo, in Sicily, Italy on February 17, 1934. His parents were Tommasa Catanzaro D'Angelo and Andrea D'Angelo. He had four brothers. He began working in the marble quarries with his father and brothers. In 1956 he served in the Italian Army. In June of 1963, he married Francesca Bosco. He and Francesca came to America in 1963. He continued to work with marble all his life. In April 1967 he cofounded Alcamo Marble Works, Inc. with his brothers in New York City.

He was a man devoted to his wife and family. A man who worked passionately side by side with his wife to provide for his family. He was the most generous and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Services were held on June 16th and 17th at Torregrossa Funeral Home, Brooklyn, New York. Friends from near and far along with family shared recollections of the special way he touched everyone's life. Throughout his illness he often found solace and strength in going to "work" and being near marble and the loving craft of it.

On June 18th a funeral Mass was celebrated by Father John Tino, at St. Dominic's Roman Catholic Church, Brooklyn, NY. Onofrio was interred at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge, New Jersey.

Onofrio is greatly missed by all who knew him, worked with him and loved him. Onofrio is survived by his wife, Francesca, his children; Tammy and Sandro Frangella, JoAnn and Orazio D'Alba, his grandchildren Thomas, Andrew, Nicholas and Juliana.
