A northeast Ohio couple had planned every detail of their wedding — except for the sound check of a Beach Boys concert next door during their ceremony.

A few bars of “God Only Knows” played as Mark Kent and Jaime Diadiun exchanged vows next to the Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica in Cleveland.

The Plain Dealer in Cleveland reports that when the band found out about the timing of its sound check, the newlyweds’ guests were told they could attend the concert for free. Many of them wandered over for a couple of songs.

When the bride stopped by the concert, she was brought on stage for the encore and played the tambourine next to Mike Love as he sang “Fun, Fun, Fun.”

Pig Out

To serve and protect is a common police motto. In western Michigan, it extends even to pigs.

Grand Rapids police say they rescued a 6-month-old pig named Ramone. The pet got away from his home in the city’s Eastown neighborhood and approached Officer Jeremy Huffman.

Huffman put the porker in the back seat of a squad car. He was able to reunite him with his rightful owner a short time later. Grand Rapids police posted a picture on its Facebook page, where it’s received more than 1,000 “likes” and more than 100 comments.

Please hold the jokes. The department says it’s heard them all.

Idiot is as Idiot Does

A man who threatened officers in Cleveland is making a court-ordered public apology by standing near a police station with a sign describing himself as an idiot.

A judge had ordered 58-year-old Richard Dameron to stand outside a local police station with a sign bearing an apology. He began the vigil that Monday and had to stand outside for three hours each day for the rest of the week.

Dameron was convicted of threatening officers in 911 calls.

His public shaming isn’t the first of its kind in the city. The Cleveland judge who sentenced Dameron previously made a woman wear an “idiot” sign in public for driving onto a city sidewalk to avoid a stopped school bus.
