Jerry Eubanks has his old wedding band because his grandson likes playing in the mud.

The Sun Journal of New Bern, N.C. reports that 7-year-old Liam Eubanks was staying with his grandparents and was playing with his toys in the mud behind their house when he stepped on something. Liam said he told Shirley Eubanks he thought he’d found some treasure.

Actually, it was the 14-karat band Jerry Eubanks lost in 1982. Eubanks remembered he had been painting the workshop behind his house. Several days later when the family was going to the beach his wife noticed the ring missing.

Jerry Eubanks said he may wear the old ring again, but also said he would leave it with his grandson as something he could treasure the rest of his life.

You Can Reap, but You Can’t Hide

Some children out picking cherries with their father in southwestern Michigan ended up finding about 50 marijuana plants in a farmer’s field along the way.

Lt. Robert Kirk of the Van Buren County sheriff’s department tells MLive.com that the family called shortly after 10 p.m. one Wednesday to report the discovery.

Kirk says it appears that someone pulled out a row of corn and planted the marijuana, knowing that the farmer’s field would be fertilized and watered. In cases like this, Kirk says whoever planted the marijuana would usually come back before the corn was harvested.

Sheriff’s deputies pulled up the marijuana plants and they will be destroyed. Authorities say it’s common for marijuana growers to try to hide plants in farmers’ fields this way.
